Bernie Ecclestone says that he still wants to handle F1 affairs – Formula 1 news
F1 boss, Bernie Ecclestone, insists that he is still in very good shape and wants to continue handling the F1 affairs.
He said that you should quit your job when you are sure that you cannot deliver it efficiently anymore.
“I hope that’s what I can do: when I feel I can’t deliver, I will certainly say goodbye,” he said. “Probably the bad thing with me is that I put in lots of effort to build Formula One the way it is now, so this is my baby and I want to look after it. Sooner
or later we’re going to have to get a babysitter. When that will be, who knows? I am in very good shape.”
The F1 supremo gave the statement in reply to some reports that have been speculating that he might be leaving his job of monitoring the sport soon. There were also some reports saying that Sauber F1’s team principal, Monisha Kaltenborn, will be replacing
Ecclestone. However, Kaltenborn has denied all such reports saying that she has no interest in that job since she already has many goals to achieve handling one team as compared to Ecclestone looking after twelve F1 teams at the same time.
Ecclestone has also changed his opinion regarding the return of legendary Michael Schumacher. He said that the German should have stopped with the seven world titles rather announcing his second and final retirement at the end of the 2012 F1 season. He said
that now people will not remember him as a champion but as a human who can be expected to fail. This statement of his is entirely different from what he said earlier in the season when Schumacher had qualified third for the British GP. At that time, he had
said that he was doing a good job and there is no harm if he wants to continue for the next ten years.
Ecclestone is also preparing for adding new races to the F1 calendar with each new season. He said that they are planning to go to Russia and are certainly working on the New York race. He has also been hinting at a race in London.
