Bernie Ecclestone steps back over London Grand Prix at Olympic Park – Formula 1 news
Formula 1 chief executive officer, Bernie Ecclestone has stepped back over the issue of London Grand Prix which has been considered to take place around the Olympic Park.
Ecclestone felt extremely encouraged after watching a huge audience in the Olympics on the last Saturday. He admired the crowd and expressed that he is very much eager to see a race in London, however, he said that they don’t have a proper circuit plan until
now on which the whole event depends.
“It's surprising how many people have come out, it's good,” Ecclestone told Reuters. “I'm sure we'd get big crowds. It depends on the circuit, at the moment we are just looking at that. Somebody is looking about going into the centre of the arena and out
again, so whether that is going happen or not, we'll have a look and see.”
Nevertheless, he said that they are positively looking forward to see a grand prix in central London.
“We looked before about something more in central London, so we'll see what happens. Let's get this out the way, and then we'll have a look at it,” he added.
It will be important to mention that during the second week of July, he kept on insisting that the London GP is not a joke and said that they have already started working on the scheme and the design of the circuit.
Although, he said that Santander have made a plan for the race in London, even so, he didn’t draw any specifications out the proposal which showed that it was merely an idea.
Moreover, Lewis Hamilton of McLaren also said with a great delight that he will love to participate in the race at the centre of London where he will get all the love and support from his fans.
Additionally, Hamilton’s teammate and compatriot, Jenson Button also revealed that it will be a great initiative and said that he will feel very much pleased with a second grand prix in his homeland.
Above and beyond, the London GP is still just a thought and the administration of the sport is not quite sure that whether the idea becomes reality or not.
