Bernie Ecclestone wants Ferrari to regain their legacy – Formula 1 news
Formula 1 chief executive officer, Bernie Ecclestone has said that Ferrari should regain their legacy back in this year’s championship.
Ecclestone expressed that he wants Ferrari to win the championship title while he said that the Italian team has a great fan following around the world as compared to the other rivals.
“Go round a city on a Grand Prix weekend, it doesn’t matter in which country you are. Which products are on sale the most in the shops? Ferrari ones. I have never seen the shops that only stock McLaren, Mercedes or Red Bull merchandise. There’s your answer
already,” Ecclestone was quoted saying on the Ferrari website.
The Scarlet team is statistically the most successful and the oldest surviving team in the history of the sport. Moreover, they have won 16 constructors’ championship until now.
It will be important to mention that although they struggled with the design of F2012 throughout the pre-season testing programme this year and expected to face issues in the first few grands prix. However, their driver, Fernando Alonso has successful limited
the damage for this team as he is currently leading the drivers’ championship with 86 points ahead of the defending champion, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing.
Although they have not been able to claim the constructors’ championship since 2008, nonetheless, they have been trying their best to make the necessary developments and the essential preparations so as to improve the pace of their car for the upcoming races
in order to fight for the championship title.
At present, they are standing at fourth place in the constructors’ rankings with 97 points. Besides, they are 28 points ahead of Mercedes and 11 points behind Lotus. Over and above, they are positively looking forward to perform well in the approaching races.
Additionally, it will be interesting to note that it is very hard to make any kind of predictions for the races ahead as there have been seven different winners in the first seven grands prix. Over and above, it will be interesting to see how the season
makes progress for all the teams.
