Seems like they either die really young, like the examples you gave, or REALLY OLD: George Burns (100) and Bob Hope (100).

Lucille Ball is the only one I can think of who lived an average lifetime: 77.

That's really sad that he died.  It seems like just not that long ago, he was at one of the Obama events.  Things happen so fast.  Don't they?  I remember watching the Bernie Mac show years ago.  He was always funny and a great comedian.  It's sad to know that he is not alive now.  I remember my dad said the same thing about when Chris Farley died.  I remember he said it was sad that such a great comedian died.

Bernie mac is not dead it was a rumor that came about after he went into a hospital with pneumonia. He's still alive and kicking. Just google it.

if you talk to comedians, they'll tell you of the great stresses they have meeting their expectations of what each new audience will find funny.. comedy is the most difficult area of entertainment. john candy died from heart failure in mexico while filming. he was in poor condition for the heat and exertion, with excessive weight putting a heavy load on his heart. john belushi died from illegal drugs, alledgedly provided by a canadian girl, in a bungalow behind the beverly wilshire hotel in los angeles. he had great difficulty coming up with fresh material for his improv' sketches on snl.and resorted to recreational drug use, regrettably. he and his partner from their early days in detroit and toronto,(gilda radner) were creative headliners on snl. chris farly had a problem with alcohol, smoking, and weight, on top of the stresses of improv- comedy and the rigors of making gigs all over the map. gilda radner, americas sweetheart, desparately wanted to have children, and was taking  fertility drug treatments that caused her to develop ovarian cancer, thet killed her and many other women, including madeline kahn

The comedians that have come before the ones you mentioned have always said that comedy looks easy, but is harder to do than straight acting, because you really have to draw from yourself.

Not just comedians. People in many entertainment fields die young. Stress, drugs, etc. Also, compared to the rest of the population they may not die young more, because they're famous we might just here about it more.
