I was given this (noncomputerized) machine which was unused for many years. It sewed well and then just froze. Obviously, the mechanical parts were dry from non-use and not being serviced. My husband oiled it and got the mechanical parts in alignment. Now the needle ( unthreaded) goes up and down easily and quietly and does NOT strike the bobbin. However, when I lower the threaded needle to pick up the bobbin thread, the upper thread completely loses it's tension and will not pick up the bobbin thread.
I have the bobbin installed correctly and the upper thread threaded correctly. The tension is set at the standard setting.
What should I do now? Thank, Betty in Colorado mountains
