Berrick Barnes and Drew Mitchell thrilled to find their names in final RWC Wallabies squad

Berrick Barnes and Drew Mitchell, who have been included in the final squad of the Wallabies for the forthcoming Rugby World Cup 2011 are thrilled to find their name among the lucky 30. Drew Mitchell has paved his way into the Wallabies side after recovering
from an ankle injury whereas Berrick has been preferred over the experienced Matt Giteau. The pair hoped that if they are provided an opportunity to play during the RWC they will put out their maximum effort to lift the Wallabies. The pair has been slotted
for the backlines of Wallabies team.
Talking to the media on August 19 Drew Mitchell said that it was his long-term desire to represent Australia in the global showpiece and he is hopeful of getting a chance in New Zealand. Drew Mitchell, who has represented the Wallabies in 44 international
matches, told reporters that when he received a severe blow to his ankle, he almost lost hope of representing his country during the Webb Ellis Trophy. He added that team doctors helped him against the odds and he is happy with his current status in the side.
Mitchell has been playing for his national side since 2005 and scored 90 valuable points for Wallabies along with a remarkable defence. The full-back has also been playing in Super Rugby championships since 2004. So far he has played for Reds, Western Force
and Waratahs in the Super Rugby format.
The other player, Berrick Barnes, was also exuberant with his selection. He told reporters that, “I suppose I've been lucky, this is not a situation I haven't experienced in the past, only 2009 I've felt I deserved or was given the No12 [Wallabies] spot
there, every other year I've had to fight for my spot, last year included, even my place in the 22.”
He added that, “It's not something I've been scared of, I felt confident I'd be busting my butt to give myself a chance and I could do it.”
Wallabies coach Robbie Deans had announced his 30-member crew for RWC 2011 on August 18.
