Berry Henson leads the Clearwater Masters by one shot – Asian Development Tour
The first round of the Clearwater Masters, sanctioned by Asian Development Tour has concluded early morning today. Some of the players had to be content with only a few holes on the first day, as play was stopped due to thunderstorms yesterday.
Quite a few players finished their first round early morning today, as the tournament committee had a tough task to make the tee times. Weather remained a challenge for the organizers as thunderstorms once again stopped play earlier in the morning. All the players completed their rounds once the organizers showed a green signal to participants.
It was the overnight clubhouse leader, Berry Henson, who was in front after all players completed their first round today. Henson had managed to finish his round yesterday and carded a round of seven-under par, 65. He played some excellent golf shots and was bogey free.
Henson earlier this year qualified through the Asian Tour Qualifying School and earned his tour card. This is a great chance for the Australian to capture his maiden title playing on Development Tour. Henson leads the field by just one shot, after the first round scores were compiled today.
Thanyakon Khrongpha of Thailand and Chinese Taipei, Hsu Chia-Jen managed a score of six-under par, 66 respectively, to share the second spot on the leader board.
Young Thanyakon managed to put up a great show, as his score of 66 shows that he was not wary of the players around him and played some exceptional golf during his round. He was also bogey free on his card and made a total of six birdies. The youngster was holding his putts well and was all smiles after his round.
Chia-Jen of Taipei was also brilliant with his play. Although he made two bogeys, he managed to recover from his lost strokes by making eight birdies. His putter helped him post a great round.
The second round of the Championship will commence today, as all the players have completed their first round.
