Bert The Alert comes down with flying colours for the Cyprium Grill At Marriott Lingfield on 18th February
Lingfield is to stage the Cyprium Grill At Marriott Lingfield Handicap that is to be raced over a mile and four furlongs on Saturday, 18th February. The race that has attracted a line of six contestants offers the purse of £4, 205 to the winner.
The most accomplished entrant for the race is Bert The Alert, Proclamation’s four-year-old bay gelding out of mare Megalex. The four-year-old cracked through his 2012 season by winning the Lingfieldpark.Co.UK Maiden Stakes on 13th January for which he was entered as the 11/10 favourite. He won on a field of seven.
Bert The Alert was placed in the last two starts of his 2011 season. On 15th December, he was second in the Mediforce Independent Ambulance Service Median Auction Maiden Stakes at Kempton. The winner, Refractor was the 13/8 favourite for the race.
His final start for the season was in the Totequickpick Maiden Stakes on 30th December at Lingfield that saw him reserving the third slot behind the winner, Tadabeer who was the 11/10 favourite of the race.
If Bert The Alert’s second start of the season proves out to be as lucky as the first one or not, will become news very soon.
Belle Josephine, Dubawi’s four-year-old bay filly out of mare Bella Lambada, has very successfully claimed her career debut. She won the Black Country’s Only Racecourse Maiden on 6th February at Wolverhampton while cornering the 4/7 favourite of the race, Red Shuttle, into the second position.
Another entry that has been able to deliver a rather sustainable performance lately is Crunched, Dubai Destination’s five-year-old bay gelding out of mare Amica. He has raced twice through the new season and has not gone down the third position as yet.
Crunched’s seasonal debut was in the Marriott Play & Stay Claiming Stakes on 18th January at Lingfield which he finished as the runner up. Exemplary was the 2/7 favourite winner of the race.
His second start of the year, Blue Square Winter Carnival Winter IPhone App Handicap on 27th January at Wolverhampton, had him finishing third after the winner. Rosewood Lad and Three White Socks were the 7/2 joint favourites of the race but none could win. The race was won by Nezhenka.
