Bertha Cuadra re-elected as President of the Nicaragua Volleyball Federation
The Nicaragua Volleyball Federation announced on Monday, January 2, 2012 that Bertha Cuadra will hold the President’s office for next four years (2012-2016).
Previously, Cuadra held the president’s position at Nicaragua Volleyball Federation since 2001. Moreover, she has been the first Vice President of the Nicaragua Olympic Committee. She has done tremendous amount of work to promote and develop volleyball in
the region. The sport of volleyball has seen massive development in Nicaragua in recent years and it is all because of the efforts put by NVF.
Quite recently, a total of 13 delegates representing the affiliated associations of NORCECA gathered in Managua, Nicaragua and voted for the re-election of Bertha Cuadra as President.
The Nicaragua Volleyball Federation is on the list of active members of North, Central America and Caribbean Federation (NORCECA). Nicaragua has volleyball teams of both genders and it also has the beach volleyball athletes, who participate in different
NORCECA and International events.
Cuadra has strengthened relations with NORCECA and FIVB. She has worked closely with both organisations and has worked on different projects. That is why International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), selected Nicaragua to host different development courses
and volleyball clinics.
In 2011, FIVB organised an International Coaches Course Level II in Nicaraguan City, Managua. The course was attended by some 25 coaches from Nicaragua, El Salvador and Honduras. The operations were supervised by the International Volleyball Federation,
(FIVB), NORCECA Volleyball Confederation and the FIVB Regional Development Center in Dominican Republic.
Cuadra also stayed put and monitored the activity. She said, “We are very grateful of the NORCECA Confederation and the Regional Development Center for their willingness to organize this activity following the parameters of FIVB and NORCECA.”
Gonzalez, the Vice Director of the Development Centre in Dominican Republic praised the efforts made by Nicaragua’s Federation and especially complimented the President of NVF for all the good work.
Since Cuadra has been re-elected the as the President of Nicaragua Volleyball Federation, it is hoped that the development work will be continued and volleyball will further progress in the coming years.
