Berties Dream enjoying favourite tag in Irish Form Book Ten Up Novice Chase at Navan
Irish Form Book Ten Up Novice Chase is due to take place at Navan in Ireland on Sunday, February 19, 2012. The 3-mile event has seven rampant runners in the line-up, but Henry De Bromhead’s Berties Dream looks in a far better position to notch the first
position.
A purse worth of €24,375 will be handed over the winner of this exciting Grade 2 event. This list of contenders includes:
Berties Dream
Crash
Medical Card
Four Commanders
Start Me Up
Quietly Fancied
Lion Na Bearnai
Berties Dream has an obvious chance to thrive, after winning his last race comprehensively. On January 7, the spectators at Thurles saw him displaying a wonderful show in the Devil's Bit Beginners Chase.
The nine-year-old gelding won the title by a massive margin of 24 lengths, beating joint favourite, Marlay Park. Following his convincing triumph, the contender is full of high spirits, and will be the one to look out for.
However, his poor track record might be a morale booster for the rest of the pack. Out of his total five flat races, the gelding came out as winner only once. Hence, his supporters will have to hold their breath until the final result.
Crash will also fancy his chances by doing something different. However, his inconsistency might spoil his party yet again. After clinching a marvellous win in the Ladbrokes Supporting Longford GAA Beginners Chase last year, the seven-year-old lost his pace
and did nothing special in both of his previous outings. The gelding will have to break the shackles this time around, and display a brilliant performance.
Another contestant who has reasonable chances is, Medical Card. On January 21, Crash, was defeated by, Medical Card in a similar competition at Naas. However, Michael Hourigan’s trainee will step out in the middle with an aim to pay back the dept with the
same coin. Therefore, it is not going to be an easy outing for Medical Card, trained by Noel Meade.
One point that goes in favour of Medical Card is that he is stepping in with two back to back wins. Ahead of his neck distance win over Crash, he outperformed Fernhurst Lad to win Irish Independent Beginners Chase in December last year. Medical Card is in
winning mood at the moment, and will be quite tough to beat.
Final Prediction
According to the betting forecast, Berties Dream is in great position to beat the rest. Crash was slight unlucky in his last race and will look to salvage some respect. However, Medical Card is not going to let him do this easily. The trio of Berties Dream,
Crash, and Medical Card is likely to secure top three positions after a very close contest.
