Berties Dream preferred to Forpadydeplasterer in Glen Chase at Thurles
Although there is a theoretical 13lb disadvantage, Berties Dream deserves preference over Forpadydeplasterer in the Glen Chase at Thurles on Thursday, November 29th. The 9-year-old has already tasted success at this track more than once, and should show the rivals the way home today.
On his previous visit here, the bay gelding beat Empire Theatre by a neck’s distance. The Edward McEvoy-bred went on vacations, after he pulled up at Plumpton. He made his seasonal comeback on a high, when securing the second position in September.
After making a decent return, he could not continue the good work, and failed to perform well last time. The Half A. Keg Syndicate-owned was among eight runners who pulled up in the Paddy Power Cork Grand National Handicap Chase (Grade B) at Cork.
The son of Golden Tornado led in the beginning, but started getting weak from 5 out. In the hands of A. E. Lynch, the Henry De Bromhead-trained was unable to recover and as a result, could not complete his run.
Despite the latest failure, one should not take anything away from Berties Dream. His wonderful record at Thurles is enough to prefer him to Forpadydeplasterer, who also pulled up on his previous start at Cheltenham.
The Thomas Cooper-trained ran a couple of good races after coming back from the seasonal break. After securing the second place on his return, he claimed the fifth place at Galway last month. Owned by Goat Racing Syndicate, the son of Moscow Society has suitable going conditions, and cannot be overlooked.
But his Thurles record is not as impressive as Berties Dream. Thus, the latter looks the best option for betting in today’s 3-mile contest. Including these two, six contenders have entered the meeting, which is scheduled to begin at 13:35 GMT. The winning prize is worth €7,935.
Florida Express knows how to run well round here, but might struggle against this opposition. Oscar Time likes this trip, but there are surely some other weak areas. Allee Garde hasn’t yet regained momentum and therefore, should not be considered. Snooze although looks in fairly good shape, the Mrs S. A. Bramall-trained is likely to run well without being good enough.
