Besides bose what is the best home theater system brand?

Any decent HTIB will be better than a Bose system costing twice or three times as much.

Bose really doesn't belong in any "Best" category, unless it's "Best way to waste money on a sound system".  

Otherwise, it's all about your price point.   How much do you want to spend, and it's easy to find several "bang for the buck" systems in any particular price range.

Bose is really not as good as you might think. Bose has all their money invested in marketing. Their speakers are known to not have good dynamic range, meaning that the sound coming out of the mid-range and tweeter speakers aren't as good as they should be. Visit any forum dedicated to home theater and audio/video and any a/v expert there will tell you that bose is garbage.

If you are looking for good speakers then Paradigm, B&W and the like is what you should be looking into.

If it's receivers then Yamaha, Onkyo and Denon are the best ones.

The "best"?

That depends on your taste in audio characteristics and your budget and room size/shape.

I use Community Sonus series set up in a 5.1 implementation

They don't have to be labeled "home theater" to be used in that environment...

Bose speakers are OK but

for the $ you spend on them

you can get much better than that

depending on your budget look at some

LG, Sony Bravia or JVC. Don't buy a Phillips or RCA system as both of these are the "cheaper" brands and I have had problems with both them. Spend some money with the first few and you will be more than happy. I have a Sony Bravia right now and I love it, hooks to my ipod and sounds amazing.
