  1. Vaseline, asphalt, plastics, insulation, CDs, etc.  Lots of products use oil byproducts.

  2. Crude oil needs to be separated into parts and refined before use in fuels and lubricants, and before some of the byproducts could be used in petrochemical processes to form materials such as plastics, detergents, solvents, elastomers, and fibers such as nylon and polyesters. Petroleum fossil fuels are used in ship, automobile and aircraft engines. These different hydrocarbons have different boiling points, which means they can be separated by distillation. Since the lighter liquid elements are in great demand for use in internal combustion engines, a modern refinery will convert heavy hydrocarbons and lighter gaseous elements into these higher value products using complex and energy intensive processes.

Most products of oil processing are usually grouped into three categories: light distillates (LPG, gasoline, naphtha), middle distillates (kerosene, diesel), heavy distillates and residuum (fuel oil, lubricating oils, wax, tar). This classification is based on the way crude oil is distilled and separated into fractions (called distillates and residuum) as can be seen in the above drawing.[2]

    Liquid petroleum gas (LPG)

    Gasoline (also known as petrol)

    Naphtha

Kerosene and related jet aircraft fuels

    Diesel fuel

    Fuel oils

    Lubricating oils

    Paraffin wax

    Asphalt and Tar

    Petroleum coke

  3. vegetable oil makes lipstick!!

learnt it today lol was not that happy about it!

  4. Anything made of rubber or plastic.

All the different fuels like diesel, kerosene, heating oil etc.

  5. so so so so so meny things! from lipstick to shoes!

if you look up products dirrived from petrochemicals you will have some, but you wil never make a full list! there is just so much!

check out the source for further info!

  6. Lots of money.

  7. Most of the makeup products, Vaseline, Naftaline. It´s a really big list, dude

  8. Depending on the quality of (I'm assuming crude) oil, any combination of: motor oil, kerosene, diesel, benzene (and other aromatics), aviation fuel, mineral spirits, mineral oil, grease, tar, asphalt, petroleum jelly and many more.

Some of these products can be altered by chemical or physical means to produce other substances, such as: gaseous alkanes, polymers, pharmaceuticals, adhesives, fibers, coatings, special solvents and many MANY more.

  9. plastics, synthetic fibers, other fuels, lubricants, pretty well everything the modern world depends on.  Look around your house, anything that wasn't grown (like wood and cotton) or mined (like stone, metal, glass, ceramics, gyprock) comes from oil.

  10. Hydrocracking a barrel of oil yields the following hydrocarbons:

    Methane CH4

    Ethane C2H6

    Propane C3H8

    Butane C4 H10

    Pentane C5 H12

    Hexane C6H14

    Heptane C7H16

    Octane C8H18

    Nonane C9H20

    Decane C10 H22

Their combustion byproducts are water vapor and CO2:

    Combustion:

    Butane C4H10 + 6.5 O2 --> 4 CO2 + 5 H2O

Now you know why there's so much flooding.  If everyone stopped smoking, it'd help alleviate some of the flooding.
