  1. a newborn or adult gerbil is recomended for picky eaters. ball pythons do not get big enough to eat a small or baby rabbit. some females will get to be 6 feet long and could possibly eat one. but you dont see alot of 6 foot ball pythons. if this helps for size:

2 month old: 1 mouse hopper

2 year old (2 feet long): 1 adult mouse

    5 and 7 year olds (each 4 feet): 1 medium-large rat

5 foot boa: 1 large rat

my boa could eat chicks, but thats a boa. ball pythons are different. just feed it rats and mice. only picky eaters should eat gerbils or hamsters.

    good luck!

  2. Large rats should suffice. They can weight over 1 lb a piece, if you get a big enough one, and if your snake is big enough to eat that, its a she not a he.

  3. Really your only cost effective options are mice, rats and gerbils.

Larger rats when it gets bigger are your best bet.

Some adults have been known to eat guinea pigs, but it's hardly necessary or cost effective.

  4. My first ball python was the biggest i have ever had, and i have seen him eat the following:

Gerbil, Hamster, Rat, Mouse, Guinea Pig, Rabbit, American Bullfrog, Garter Snake, Green Snake, and a Small Bird (Yes, my bird.. and no - i didn't feed it to him on purpose...)

FYI - It is NOT wise to feed your python all of these things!!!

I was young and basically let him go wherever he wanted.

Half the listed prey were my pets.

  5. It's better to feed more often than to feed larger food. As an adult, it is best to feed it a small live rat(pre-killed for safety) or a medium frozen/thawed one. Remember that as adults, they won't need as much food, so you don't need to feed as much.

Your ball can probably eat other things, but you should stick to mice and rats.

  6. I would say rabbits, guinea pigs. And not to sound cruel, I had a friend of a family that had pythons, boas and he fed them just born puppies.... but I don't suggest that. But yea, find  yourself a breeder in your area and see if they can get you set up with rabbits, guinea pigs and large rats.

  7. the can also eat gerbils because that is what they orignaly eat in the wild the are a very expensive food for your snake. 12 dollars a week

  8. Consider breeding mice or rats on your own. Then feed him as many as he will eat.

  9. Big balls?

  10. You can feed him rats, appropriate sized quail or chicks, gerbils, hamsters, and possibily a small guinea pig. I have also heard of people feed their ball a parrakeet. I hope this helps.

  11. The Ball Python has the diet that consists mostly of small mammals, such as African soft-furred rats, shrews and striped mice. Younger individuals have also been known to feed on birds. Captives usually do well on domestic rats and mice, either live, pre-killed, or frozen-thawed.

But in captivity they tend to like and eat:

    rats

small dwarf rabbits (only to be eaten by adults)

    Birds.

You can buy all of these dead or frozen at all reptile shops.... or they will order the in for you!

If you live in the uk i know some sites that you can buy cheap over the internet....:::....

    Hope i helped :]

  12. When he gets bigger you will have to either feed him more mice, or bigger rats, a fully grown ball python will eat a large or jumbo rat every 7-10 days.

    hope i helped :)x

  13. You may be able to feed it SMALL rabbits. Who often are you feeding it? How big is it? One proper sized rat a week should be fine. Are you sure he's even a ball python? Most ball pythons at an outrageously huge size can barely eat jumbo rats. I have a 4 foot RTB and he still eats medium to large rats every other week and he's doing fine.

  14. rabbits large rats quails

  15. Homeless children, stray cats and dogs.
