Question:

Besides money what's a good wedding gift?

It's for very close friends of ours. The bride always has said that money is an easy way out for gifts and there isn't anything left on their registries from the showers. We want to spend about $200. She gave us a Howard Miller wall clock for our wedding. So I kinda was thinking of getting them something like that that they can keep forever.

  1. Do you have a nice photo of them that you can have blown up and framed?

At my wedding, one of my guests gave us an adorable basket with two crystal flutes and a nice bottle of wine.

  2. Problem is, you know your bride better than anybody here.  If I were getting something for my one cousin, I'd get her a Black Forest cuckoo clock (she's always loved those).  For my other cousin, I would get them new higher end, stainless steel cookware (his gf loves to cook).  However, neither have given any signs that they plan to marry their live-ins, despite being together for 10 years, so alas, I gave up waiting. I made them both afghans in the favorite colors of each couple.

  3. I'm a fan of nice crystal bowls and vases.  These are things I use frequently and they are something that whenever they take it out of the china cabinet they can remember who gave it to them.

I am NOT a fan of things personalized.  I know my name, I know his name, I know when we were married...I don't need a blanket or anything personalized to remind me.

  4. Get them something personal, I have given this and everyone loves it!! These are great gifts. http://www.chimesofyourlife.com/

This company personalized wind chimes, you can say

anything, show your love, blessings, whatever. They

even have an inscription page if you cant think of

    anything to say.

Great selection of chime colors, sizes, and different wind sail shapes.

  5. something on the registry

    clock like you got

    pay for the bridal suit

night out, dinner gift card, movie gift card or theater tickets

  6. The clock sounds good. Definitely something that they will always have and use. You can even have a name plate on it that has their names and wedding date. Heres some ideas at this site. I think the oil painting would be nice.

  7. A digital photo frame which is around 149.00 for their wedding pics.

  8. a wash board for her

  9. one thing we did for a wedding gift for our friends was buy a bottle of wine with the optimal consumption age being 25 years from that date.  we told them to use it to celebrate their 25th anniversary.  the message was that we were confident that their marriage would last long enough for them to be able to use it. you could possibly get a personalized label, too.

  10. How about something sentimental that they can put on a wall?  I would buy a  beautiful frame and get the words from a wedding card (or use the card - you can buy two of the same thing if you want to show the cover plus inside) and do something with it.  Kind of like scrapbooking but in a frame.  Probably if you go to Joann's or Michael's, someone can help with ideas.  If they have engagement photos, you can use one of those, too.

That's what I plan to do when my best friend gets married next year.

  11. Crystal is always nice because they can use it for entertaining.  Maybe a vase?

  12. $200 gift card

  13. Home Depot gift card.

  14. well you can get them a really nice painting  or u can use a picture of them together if you have any and turn that to a portrait for them

  15. Something with their names engraved on it...e.g: like a crystal glass set

  16. A gift card is always an appropriate gift

  17. Sounds good.  Anytime you give a thoughtful gift the memories will last for a long time.  We have gifts from our wedding and after 18 years we still treasure them.  Memorablegifts.com has some great ideas for gifts, they also have Movado clocks that can be personalized.  check them out.

  18. Give them a gift certificate for a cooking class ansd wine tasting for 2, a gift certificate for a night at a nice romantic hotel...or for something they can learn and enjoy doing together...its not something material that will last forever but its a nice romantic detail and they'll never forget it...
