    Taverns were centered of colonial life. News and political views were discussed openly over pints. Business men and lawyers plied trade within tavern halls and tavern has sometimes doubled as religious halls in small communities without their own church.

    If you are look for a specific answer, the more common use was A. I did specifically leave out medicine. Early medical practices were associated with barbers more often than not.


  2. I would guess A. It was a place to exchange ideas and news, considering there was no television or radio at the time. It wouldn't be a good idea to do business while intoxicated, or mix religion with drinking which was a big no-no, and medicine/law makes no sense to take place in a tavern.
