  1. Most psychiatrists just prescribe meds and deal with the medical side of mental illnesses.  That's all mine does, so I guess the answer is very little.

Therapists, counselors, and psychologists do talk therapy.  I've benefitted from mine.

  2. Having someone I can trust to tell things I am concerned about and if I am feeling suicidal has really helped.

  3. My psychiatrist is the same as he only prescribes medication and that is about all he does. I have benefited from his treatment though and continue to see him every couple of months. If it wasn't for him I would still be psychotic and who knows what else.

  4. I've never been to a psychiatrist because I don't feel they could really help me. Maybe if I have deeper questions that only medical people can translate to me or if I have serious medical condition. But you know if you really want a answers for your personal problems just talk to an older people. they can give you a lot of wisdom. Mostly deep, you could have nosebleed!!!

  5. My psychiatrist mostly deals with my medications.  As long as he is there to write my prescriptions, I guess he is doing his job.

My therapist is the one who's most helpful.

A friend of mine sees a psychiatrist for both therapy and medication. Her doctor is helpful in both ways to her.  It is not that easy to find a doctor that will do both these days unless you can afford to pay for it.

    Best Wishes.
