The bowling star of PKF Tasmanian Tigers (Australian domestic cricket team) Brett Geeves has been struggling with his back injury since 2010 but was unable to recover completely till now. This unfortunate situation forced Oz bowling star to announce his
retirement from the first class cricket today on June 27.
Geeves had to take off from the first class cricket in February last year because of the back stress fractures. Prior to this incident, he had played Shield competition and remained the top Tasmanian bowler with 20 wickets at an average of 26.70.
The right arm fast bowler started his career with Tasmanian Tigers in 2000-01, and debuted first class cricket in 2004- 05. His first ever ODI match as the Australian bowler was against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 in 2008 where he took 2 wickets by giving away only 11 runs.
Since then, the struggler has played only three matches for team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, and in one season with the Tasmanian Tigers. Geeves’ injury had sidelined him from active cricket since February 2008 and failing to make a fresh comeback, the Tasmanian bowling
was forced to depart from the first class cricket.
Today, in a broadcast over ABC radio, the unfortunate cricketer said, “My back's about as stable as the Egyptian government at the moment, it's time for me to part ways with cricket”.
“My body has taken a real beating over the years and unfortunately it has ultimately brought an end to my first-class career,” said Tasmanian Lad.
