  1. Bono's B&B, looooooooooooooool

  2. Rates go up at some hotels almost 100-200% on the weekends, no joke.  For example- Harcourt hotel is USD$102 during the week, and $312 Friday nights and $429 on Saturday nights, even in low season!  So, this increase over the weekends will greatly increase the average cost per night.  Try avoiding this by staying Sunday-Friday morning.  Even hostels do this- Isaac Hostel is $55  Fri-Sun and $22/night all week.

OK, so as far as hotels in the city centre go, I like the Mespill.  It is out of the way not to get too rowdy at night (like hotels in Temple Bar).  But it is close enough to walk (half mile from Grafton St), and there is a Dublin bus stop right near it that goes to the city centre every 10 min or so.  Also, the AirCoach stop is nearby to get a cheap lift to and from Dublin Airport. The Mespil is in Ballsbridge (a posh, safe, quiet area of Dublin).  There is a petrol station, Tescos (Grocery store), Burger King, Spar (conveient store), and Eddie Rockets (hamburger place) all adjacent to the hotel.  The rooms are quite spacious for European standards,  The rates are: $175 Friday $251 Saturday, and $136/night during the week.

    Address:

    50-60 Mespil Road

    Dublin 4

  3. there is usually good offers on in the jurys hotel of the gresham and theyre really central...if you want to splash out hen you cant get more central than the westbury of the shelbourne but theyre pricey...but sooo worth it

  4. avalon hostel was cheap and cheerful. nothing luxurious but you wont find that in dublin without paying crazy prices!

  5. Jacobs Inn if you dont mind a hostel =]

but make sure to take valuables with you if you leave the room, me and some friends had some things stolen. theyve been doing upgrades to the Inn over the last 3 years and its pretty nice now. it was definatly a hole in the wall place back then. check it out if you want cheap.

  6. we stayed at the Celtic Hotel which is just 4 minutes walk from the main street.
