Question:

Best .22 Rifle for Target Shooting ?

I am interested in club target shooting, I have sourced a club in my area that I wish to join in the very near future. I have had a lot of success with shooting in the Air Training Corps with getting my Wing Marksman (single rifle with crown) two weeks after my Squadron (single rifle) and I wish to have a greater opportunity to practise and get coached. The only downside is that I wish to purchase my own rifle after a) being in the club for the required time and b) have met the requirements for the Firearms Certificate (which begs another question which is the best safe and ammunition safe to buy on a budget). The requirements for the rifle is that a) it must be able to operate with and without a magazine at a moments notice and b) be suitable for regular competitions and c) easy to clean and maintain.

  1. i went to forken run sportmens gun club and shot a 10/22 it didnt shoot to bad but i found out that a bolt action rifle shoots better so i got a H&R model 451 medilist and i shoot team eley and found out that its the best shooting gun there because i shot 3 macthes in a row and put it out and had to shoot my friends 10/22 witch i won 1 match with soo i figure that H&R rifles shoot the best

  4. I have shot for comp for many years and if you are really interested in shooting for competition than I would go with an Anschultz 22 the most dependable rifle out there.  I really enjoy mine and I raised my average over 30 points the first yr.

  5. Savage mk II I have two of them and both will give consistant 3/8" 5 shot groups at 100 yd and as little as .160" 5 shot groups at 50yd.
