price is not an issue, and am also looking for power and extreme accuracy? I was thinking of the Air Arms s410xtra FAC sidelever. But I want to see peoples opinions first, and possibly more suggestions.

  1. get one with a high FPS speed ( at least 800 fps or higher )

    try this site

  2. If price is not an issue and you want power and accuracy, then why do you want a toy gun?  Buy at least a .22lr, if not bigger, and it'll save you a bunch of money over buying some hokey bb gun.  Using a pellet gun for racoons, sounds like using a .22 lr for elk, way underpowered, not ethical, and not humane.

  3. a 22lr would be better for game that size....a 22 magnum would be even better.......air guns are marginal for game that size.............to the poster below telling us to educate ourselves.....well to answer you we are educated and we are ethical hunters and we know that shooting medium size game with a air rifle is very marginal and not a wise or ethical way to hunt......if you disagree that is fine.......the majority of us don't agree with you ......so in the numbers game we win.....you lose

air guns are a fine way to learn how to shoot but they are not for hunting anything larger than a squirrel

  4. Not a good choice for game as large as coons.

Most high end .22 Airgun's fire a 15g pellet at 800fps which is not enough to ensure clean kill on a coon.

A .22LR fires a .40g bullet at 1200-1300fps. This is designed as a varmint round to make clean kills on small game. Your airgun is likely to injure more coons than its kills.

  5. For the folks who say it doesn't work... Educate yourselves. It can be done. A .22LR or .22 centerfire may be more powerful and have a greater margin for error, but provided you have good equipment and do your part you can kill raccoon sized animals with an air-rifle.

For the asker... Any of the following would work. The important thing is to get a gun with as good a muzzle velocity as you can afford, shoot heavy pellets that will give good penetration, and make sure you put your pellets into vital organs.
