Best AFL/VFL Team?

Hawthorn 1980s, Richmond Early 1970s, Essendon Mid 80s or 1999-2000, Brisbane 2001-2004, Geelong - Current Team, Melbourne 1950s, North Melb Late 1990s...any others?

I would say crows 1997 and 1998, they have the biggest supporter base so they are the best team in the whole entire universe.

Ive watched alot of early carlton and richmond, they were guns in their time..

But I dont think we'll see a team again like Lions team of 01-04 (tru legends) b******s) though it looks like geelong are gonna give it a go!

Sorry West Coast, youve had great teams in yr time but they were no match against a well oiled lions outfit from 01-04.. keep trying..

Hawks in the 80s gotta be up there, and cant forget the cats even though they didnt get that premiership in the late 80s early 90s they deserved it. But Bris definately as an Afl team that was an awesome display and nearly made it 4.But i can see us all talking about the Cats in a few yrs time talking about the team of the 21st millenium they are a gun team and so young got a few more yrs in them yet.We will see.

Hard to answer really, i would lean to the Brisbane side, winning 3 in  a row,  all the sides you mentioned were good, i am a bit biased towards those great tiger teams, the blues in that era were pretty hot too.

can't comment on the melbourne teams or the magpies late 1920's as i wasnt around but they must of been bloody good too.

Carlton in 1995, only losing a few matches and destroying geelong in the grand final...well winning in a high margin.

they had great players like sticks, williams, madden, bradley, kouta, SOS who kept ablett kicking no goals in the GF.

And of course they were coached by David Parkin whos emotion was something i thing every one misses in this modern game.

Toss up between Melbourne in the late 50,s early 60,s with premeirships in 1955,56,57,59,60,64 or North Melbourne in 70's when Barrassi coach them to 5 consecutive GF's1975(w)76(L)77(d)77(w)78(w) I doubt we will ever see teams like that again.

Well I wasn't around to see Hawthorn and Richmond, but from my experience, I'd have to say Brisbane of 2001-2003, and I think the current Geelong team will be right up there in a couple of years.

West Coast early-mid 90's and then around 2005-2006 season. Apart from that, c**p and inconsistent (sob!)
