I'm looking to purchase a boat dock for a a new 16' boat I'm getting. Is there anything specific you'd recommend.

I've check out JetDock's stuff (someone recommended them) at www.jetdock.com, but I'm just not sure.

What do you guys think?

  1. Are you looking for a drive-on that you'll tie to your existing pier/pilings? Or do you need the whole setup? Floating systems are the best: Bellingham's concrete system is the premier commercial/industrial dock, but will be excessive and prohibitively expensive. Other wood-over-metal (aluminum or galvanized steel) truss systems can be had from many different manufacturers. Look up Merco... if you're mechanically apt, you'd be able to put it together yourself.

  2. I don't know where you live, but if there's a lot of tide or a lot of storms, your best bet may be a floating dock. the best of these ride up and down the tide on pilings that are sunk deep into the bottom and then filled with concrete to make them as immovable as possible. Floating docks have the advantage of you not having to readjust your lines as the tide changes, and to be able to dock a 16' boat, you won't need a dock much longer than 20 - 25'
