Best CD and technique to back up pictures to a disk?!?

I have about a thousand pictures that i want to get off my computer and onto a cd where i can look back in a couple years and see them on the computer and/or on my dvd player. i have a dvd burner too if that helps. I need to know the best kind of cd to do this i.e. dvd-r cd-rw ect., and the best way to burn them on the computer.

  1. do a search of all photos or jpegs and then select all then put on desktop after saving. if you have 1000 photos best to get a DVD disk as it hold more.

    select alll then write to disk, and it shold do so.


  2. I would rather choose to burn the pictures into CD and not DVD, because One CD can hold thousands (1,000 - 2,000 photos, in my case) pictures, while DVD can hold about 5,000 to 10,000 photos, it's gonna be hard to search ONE of your photos later in the future in your DVD Collection isn't it?.

    Now about the CD type, I would suggest CDR only (not the RW ones) and IMHO, the best CDR that you can buy is Verbatim & TDK, Maxell.

    Burn them in Data Format as usual.

    Well, I use Ahead Nero that comes with the driver.

  3. Depends how much space you need. A dual layer DVD should do nicely. Use your favoured burning software to copy the files - I use Brasero.
