Best Camera / Camera Brand?

Any Suggestions? And will $250 - $300 get me something decent that does vid also? Gonna take the plunge and would love expert assistance.

  1. most of the major brands are pretty good, you can't go wrong with them. i think canon and sony have the largest range of cameras from small ones to big zooms
