Best Camera for filming??

Question

Ok, what digital video camera would be best for filming short films, skits, and the average youtube video in decent quality for under $500?

If possible, include one to three of your top three favourite camears, make and links to them.

What specs should I be looking for as well? (I currently use Windows Movie Maker to upload and create my videos.)
