  1. try canon a2000 digital camera

  2. There are a couple of things to keep in mind for the type of shooting you want to do;

    A  DSLR with a zoom lens attached will be much heavier if you are hiking long distances, if you are using a lens longer than 300mm for wildlife then you will also need to carry a tripod. OR invest some money on a decent anti-shake lens like a nikon VR if you don't want the extra weight of a tripod.

    Nikon slr/dslr cameras are good and the lenses are all  interchangeable(except some older manual focus) . As a beginner you should start out with a good but inexpensive body and get 2 or 3 good lenses. The bodies will always be upgraded but the lenses will stay with you for life.(As long as you stick with the same manufacturer, it's money you'll only have to spend once)

    I wouldn't recommend ebay  but if you go that route then make sure it comes with the manual .It does take time to learn how to use an slr and you won't be able to talk to the staff at the camera store.

  3. For your own protection, look on craigslist instead of eBay.  You will be able to hold the camera in your hands and test it before you turn over your money.

    That said, any Nikon 35 mm SLR that is less than 15 years old will be a good start.  You can find a good Nikon with standard zoom lens for under $200 ... usually less.

    Next you will want to start saving for a longer lens ... 200 mm, 300 mm or 400 mm
