Best Caribbean Resort with beach snorkeling?

Greetings from chilly Chicago!

My husband and I are planning next year's vacation. Our usual MO is Hawaii, given that it's easy to get to and the weather is consistent.

We'd like to switch it up this year and hit the Carribbean.

Can anyone suggest a resort ($350 - $500 per night) that has snorkeling right off the beach? I could lay there all day but the hubby gets bored. I'm open to any island as long as there is a little bit of activity going on outside of the resort. Think EcoTours or scuba.
