Hi I am 19, and thinking about buying a bike, i love the honda cbr600, and kawasaki ninja 600, also the yamaha yzf-6r, those are the bike style i like, now the problem is I have never rode a bike before, and i dont want to buy a powerful expensive bike like that right away, so my question is what year and model bike looks similar to those i mentioned, and has less ccs, what cc should i start with? i want something with a little speed, but not too much that I'll get tempted to try something dumb, if any1 could help it would be greatly appreciated

  2. Buying your first bike is very exiting and the thrill you will get from your first ride will probably stay with you for some time to come.  However different people have different aptitudes and therein lies the difference.

I have taught very many people how to ride.  Some have difficulty even after 8 sessions whereas some seem to be confident after just 45 minutes.  If you love 2 wheelers in general, the natural affinity will help you to master it in the shortest possible time.  If you harbor fear and other misgivings coupled with incorrect information, the process will take a while longer.

In some countries, a 100cc bike would be vehicle to start with.  In some, people want at least 250cc.  It all depends on where you will be driving.  If your use is within the city, driving at lower speeds, then a 125cc would be more than enough.

If you plan to use the highways more than use in the city itself, then a 250cc would be good and sufficient.  Just make sure you build up your confidence at lower speeds within the city before venturing out on the highways.  To my mind, the Honda CBF 250 would make an ideal vehicle to enter the world of 2 wheelers.  The single cylinder 4 valve, 4 stroke is a very sporty machine and fuel efficient too !

  3. The Kawasaki Ninja EX250R is excellent starting place for newbies.  Another good choice is the Kawasaki Ninja EX500R.  Both bikes have in production since the late 80's so there should be used models available.

A lot of riders will tell you these are too small and you will grow out of them quickly, that is just an excuse for getting as big of a bike as they can as soon as they can.

I've been riding 40+ years have taught motorcycle training for 5+ years and seen quite a few wrecked sport bikes ridden by people that had no business riding those bikes.
