Question:

Best Cruise Line for your first cruise!

I am trying to plan a cruise for some time next year for my husband and I. I've did just a little research on the subject but not enough to make a final decision. My husband and I want to try something different and neither of us has ever been on a cruise. Any suggestions? Not sure if this makes a difference, but we don't have any children. (?)

  1. Carnival for sure!!

  2. Depends where you live as to what cruise lines go from near your area. I have been on a few  but I live In Australia and went with P&O that only choice I had if i wanted to do the pacfic islands and not go localy eg around Sydney etc. It by far is one of the best holidays I have ever been on. Some may find  it too exspensive although by the the time you add accomdation meals actives etc for a sperate holiday cruises are well worth it.You have to pay for drinks and souviners and off shore activites that ok though. Ihave added these 3 cruise sites. Have great time choosing and a great holiday.

    http://www.carnival.com

    http://www.princess.com

  3. Depends on your budget. Over all I would say Royal Caribbean is the best for first time cruisers. They are the biggest and best cruise line and have a vriaty of diffrent activitys onboard.

  4. Princess.

  5. 3 or 4 day sailing on Carnival or Royal Caribbean.

  6. Royal Caribbean is a nice cruise line and there are not quite as many kids onboard as Carnival.  Royal Caribbean is for the more adventurous people who like doing activities and keeping busy.  Their average age range is 25-45 typically.  Celebrity Cruise lines is a nice choice too, but it is geared more for relaxation and is well known for their spa service.  It is a little different age range with travelers being 35-55.  There are usually very few kids onboard Celebrity ships.  Carnival is probably the least expensive option, but there are more kids and younger travelers.  It is always fun to cruise Carnival if you are looking for more of a party. 8. I just went on a Carnival Cruise(the Conquest out of Galveston, Tx) it was my first cruise!! It was amazing!! We went to the western caribbean!! SOO BEAUTIFUL!! I know the commercials for Carnival have lots of kids on them but it never felt "over crowded with kids" there was a WIDE variety of ages on board. from what looked like to be 6mo. olds to people celebrating 50 year anniversarys. I would recommend carnival to anyone, the whole experience was amazing. email me if you have anymore questions and I'll try and help.

by the way im planning another cruise on the same boat for my hooneymoon!!

  9. TRY CARNIVAL,, NOT TO STUFFY AND THEY HAVE LOTS OF STUFF TO DO ON THE SHIP, ALSO YOU CAN BOOK SHORE TRIPS ON THERE WEB SITE BEFORE YOU GO SO YOU CAN PLAN YOUR PORT DAYS TO BE AS FUN AS YOU WANT THEM TO BE

  10. It would make a difference, depending on your attitude about children.  If you like kids, though you don't have any, then Royal Caribbean and Carnival, NCL are all good possibilities.  But they all tend to attract families.

If you don't have kids cuz the little rats just annoy you, you might want to go for a line that tends to carry less children, such as Celebrity, Princess, maybe Holland America.

Also, the timing is important...if you go when school is out (Christmas, Easter, Summer) you will have more young'uns on the boat.

More importantly, what are your likes and dislikes, your budget, and your priorities.  Carnival, RCCL and NCL are all mass market, low-priced lines.  Of those, NCL is a bit more relaxed about dress codes and dining times - so if you are casual people go that way.  If you like to dress up, and deal well with structure, Carnival and Royal are about the same, except Carnival tends to have bigger staterooms, and Royal more physical activities (like ice skating and rock climbing).

If you want something a little more upscale, Princess and Holland America and Celebrity try to be a bit more elegant - and Princess is the one of those where you don't have to have dinner every night, same place, same time.

As far as ports, they all tend to go to the same ports - with Carnival and NCL being, typically, more port intensive, and the others having more "sea days".

There is a lot more I could tell you, if I knew a bit more about the two of you, and what you are specifically looking for, but hopefully, this will at least give you some direction for further research.
