  1. In Woodley Park, try the Lebanese Taverna.  Fun dips and kabobs.

Around the mall, I would head for the food court at the Native American Museum.  They have a host of selections from all over the country (pacific northwest, south western -- your kids can taste things they haven't had before).   If they are less adventurous foodwise, there's a nice cafeteria next to the sculpture garden of the National Gallery.

Re: the answer below, Union Station is not that close to the mall unless you're near the capitol end of the mall.

  2. Just so you know, the "P" is not capitalized--it's Dupont Circle.

Adams Morgan is not the most child-friendly neighborhood, but there is the Amsterdam Falafelshop, which is relatively inexpensive, and across the street, M'Dawg, which sells hot dogs.  At Amsterdam, you top your own falafel pita pickets, and at M'Dawg, you can pick what toppings you want.  But seating is limited at both, and because I live in the neighborhood, I usually get my falafel to go.

On P Street between 16th and 17th, there's Luna Cafe, which serves pastas and pizzas.

  3. In DuPont Circle just south of P on 18th is Fudruckers.

    1216 18th Street, N.W., Washington, DC  20036

    Phone: 202-659-1660

In Cleveland Park just North of the Zoo there is a California Tortilla which would be kid friendly and is on the East Side of Connecticut off of the Metro.

Near the Mall, try the Union Station food court.  There is a Johnny Rockets and such.  There is also a Johnny Rockets on M St in Georgetown.

    Have fun!
