Go to a qualified counselor. I have no idea. Maybe you should call the LA PD, non-emergency phone number. If they can't help you, they know who you should see.

Criminal Justice is the norm for officers.

Personally, I just received my bachelors in Criminal Justice, but if I was in your shoes and had another chance psychology would definitely be my choice.

You cannot only get into the police without a degree, or any degree, but it will serve useful in the practical day to day job.  And if you ever desire to get your Masters you can definitely do some good things with counseling or psychology.

As for me, if I get hurt badly, I have a criminal justice degree.  Not much to fall back on.  So choose wisely.  Hope this helped.

Go for Psychology, when interviewing suspects or victims it helps knowing what to say and not to say.  Not to mention reading body language.

It doesn't really matter what degree you receive. What really matters is your background(drugs, gangs, misdemeanors, honesty, integrity) It's best to have a clean history. There are a lot of officers who don't have degrees when they get hired. You only really need a degree if you want to climb up the ranks.
