None, they don't work.

They just get my mouth all dry when I'm panting for air.

Better not get use to energy drink becoz it may become an addiction. You may not be able to train w/o it. Train yourself in just drinking water, and try to minize it now and then. After a while you'll get use to and you will tend to drink less and less and won't need energy drink to energize your body. After all energy drink is just soda or drink w/ sugar..
