  1. i use a berkley  IM7 spinning rod medium action  rod and it's the best i've ever seen. i catch bass small and large, carp, crappie, catfish, bowfin, stripers, panfish, you name it. Good Lcuk and Happy Fishing!!!

  2. Get the best you can afford.I would stay away from the Bass Pro branded items.Any of the combos with a Daiwa Tierra,Shimano Saros or Stradic,Fin-Nor MegaLite or Ahab, and Quantum Boca, all have good 10 lb class reels and can be found in good combos.

  3. I run a two piece medium weight 6'6 Ugly Stick (accomodates 8-12lb line if I remember correctly) with a Shimano spinning reel (with 10lb line).  Its about a $100 setup that has never failed me.

  4. I bought a new Carolina Rig Rod and Reel Combo a few months ago from Bass Pro Shops...it was a Shimano Cicata Reel with a 7 ft BPS Extreme Rod...it was $150, but I think it went down to $130...the reel is a great reel...you can really "hoss in" some good size bass with it, and the rod is very sensitive, you can really feel the bottom good with it...I love it...

  5. that is way too much to spend on a fishing setup but if ur only going to fish once in a while probably fine but if u fish every day get a sponsor to buy them because it will get expensive.

  6. I could probably help more if I knew what you were fishing for. I'm gonna try to cover the most common need here. The Pflueger President is the best spinning reel I have ever owned and the BPS Extreme is known for being a very nice rod comparable to more expensive rods. Take a look at this excellent combo from BPS($119.94). Don't forget to read the customers ratings(5 out of 5 stars!) Another rod to consider is the BPS Bionic Blade(their best rod in my opinion). Hope you find what you need. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores...

  7. i use a Berkley Lightning rod($35-$40) 6 1/2ft

    copperhead med reel($30)

for a cheap but strong wellbuilt rig you cant beat it,,,,good luck!!
