My in-laws are sending us to the Caribbean for our honeymoon. Where have you all been and how was it? Please include the Resort name so I can look them up.

  1. Without question, any one of the "couples" resorts in Jamaica, similar to sandals, but a bit more cost friendly.  Go to their website www.couples.com, check out the links, including the "message board" and you may become obsessed like the rest of us.  Have only personally been to "Couples Swept Away", but am planning a return trip for december.  No kids, no families, just couples... Have a look.

  2. Have to say Antigua. And if they in-laws are paying then Sandals Grande Resort Antigua.

  3. Jamaca man'.

    peacefull....

    try:http://www.sandals.com/general/resorts-j...

    thats quite peacfull

  4. We honeymooned at Secrets in Playa Del Carmen, MX (Caribbean side but I was not impressed with the tan sand beach and cloudy waters) . Still, it is a lovely low-key all inclusive but have been to a dozen Caribbean islands since then. I would HIGHLY recommend Anguilla. It is so quiet and discreet. Service and food is excellent and the beaches are the best I have ever seen. If money is no object, look at Cuisinart, Cap Jaluca, and Malihouana. I have visited each and they are all beautiful and offer every luxury but each has a different look and is on a different beach - so I would research which would best suite you. If you don't plan on spending $500-1000 a night, try Ku where we stayed. It has a great, hip South Beach vibe and is on my favorite of the Island's gorgeous beaches.

Antigua is also a great island (we got engaged there!), a little off the beaten path and offers a range of prices and an amazing array of beaches.  We went more low key with a little Inn in historic English Harbour but there are at least 3 world class options in Galley Bay Resort, Jumby Bay, and Curtain Bluff. If you are not considering one of these all inclusives, then I would stay at a nice hotel on French St Martin. Incredible food and wine and very relaxed, European feel. We attended a wedding at Grand Case Beach Club and the nearby hotels os L'Esplanade and Le Petite are super romantic (we had our baby with us, so stayed at a more family friendly hotel on Orient Beach). Finally, if you are really looking for something different, consider Old San Juan, PR.... Great shops, galleries, and restaurants. El Convento is one of the most lovely and romantic hotels I have ever stayed at.

All of these places are a lot more interesting and, to my mind, relaxing than the big "Couples" resorts.
