What flashlight would be really good for hunting and tracking. Im not looking for a complete tracking light, just a regular light, preferably a LED with a pretty high battery life.

silva headlamps, they're used extensively by mountain rescue and engineers (in NZ), they also out-perform most handheld torches, with the handy-ness of being attached to your head keeping your hands free for shooting, knifing, fishing, sholaces, blahblahblah

  3. I am a light fanatic- I have searched for years for the perfect walking to your stand, tracking your game light- I have invested hundred's of dollars in lights that were too big, too dim, did not show up blood well enough, battery life too short, bulb life too short. But I have found the holy grail of lights- it is made by streamlight- LED bulbs,  battery life around 15 hours, uses 4 double A bulbs, super bright and is only about 6 inches long and weighs ounces-shows blood well. Will  fit into lyour pocket or backpack and you'll never know its there.Has 7 LED bulbs. This is the only light I carry since I discovered this one. You can look at them by going to WWW,brightguy.com- they cost under $25- It will be the best purchase you ever made! Honest!

  4. There is an LED lamp assembly that you can use to retrofit an existing Mini-Maglite that you may already have. A Headlamp that has White, Red & Green LEDs in it for better nite vision, varying brightness as well as flashing modes for location/rescue if needed. And a version that clips to a baseball cap's brim that is available in either white light or green light for better night vision.

  6. I bought a streamlight task light in LED. It uses 3 AA batteries, and burns for about 25 hours. Its aircraft aluminum, warrantied for life, and costs about 30 dollars. The bulb has a 100000 hr life; you will never replace it.

I also use streamlight products for my job as a police officer. I prefer it to maglight products, and think that for the cash, It is the best light.

I also use a streamlight Stylus pen light. It uses AAAA batteries, and burns for about 50 hours. Stream light has made some improvements to the Stylus recently, and made it waterproof.  I use the pen light to go in and out of the woods, and in my stand. The task light, is a great light, that is a bit too bright for me, but is great to use if you gut in the dark due to an afternoon kill.

My hunting partner uses the task light for everthing, and thats OK too. I just like small lights to keep nearby deer from seeing the light.

Check out their web, and you will see dozens of lights to choose from.
