Best Hybrid for a 6 handicap?

I'm looking to buy a hybrid. I've noticed that players are hitting their 3/4 hybrids considerabley farther than my 3/4 irons. I was looking at the Cobra Baffler Hybrid or the Nike Sumo Hybrid. What would you recommend?

  1. I bought a Baffler DWS 3 this year and love it. It's very easy to hit and the ball flies off the face. I tried the Sumo as well but didn't like the feel. I'd recommend trying them both and seeing what you prefer, but in my experience, the Baffler is a great choice.

Edit: A hybrid isn't a "crutch". More and more pros are using them (Phil Mickelson carries one depending on the course). Not using a hybrid because you're "old school" is just silly.

  2. Out of those to Nike!

But try them, why not take a look at the ping, i hit these 2 further than any other make on the market.

    The Rapture and the G10.

I ended up buying the Rapture!

    Check out the sites below!!

  3. Pay particular attention to loft's on the hybrids.  TaylorMade usually makes their 3-hybrid 19 degrees of loft, which is really a 2 iron.  They make their 4-hybrid 21 degrees of loft, which is really a 3 iron.  Just a thought to keep in mind when looking at the different companies.

In regards to hybrids for lower handicaps, the BEST option is the Adams Idea Pro hybrid.  They are coming out with a new model soon, but the older model is still used by MANY tour guys and they don't get paid to use it.  But the Cobra Baffler Pro is also a good option for a lower handicap.

  4. Don't get jealous - remember golf isn't about how far you hit the ball, it is about how many times you hit it.  If you are a six handicap you really shouldn't need a hybrid crutch.

  5. they are both very good choices. length depends on the player. i have found that most of the time a person gets about 5-10 yards farther with the hybrids than the standard irons but like i said it depends on the player and the hybrid. if you can hit your high irons fairly good than the TaylorMade TP rescue would be great. if not than the cobra baffler, nike sumo, cleveland hibore, adams a3, and the TaylorMade Burner would be good for you to look at. pretty much every club maker has a good hybrid but the best thing to do is go to a course or golf shop and try various types out. try various degrees and shafts. some do come in either graphite or steel. each gives a different feel and weight. steel is more control whereas graphite gives a little bit more distance. another thing you could do especially if you can hit your high irons fairly good than just add a hybrid but don't take out any irons. put maybe a 3 or even a 2 hybrid. but like i said go and try them all out to see how you like them best. i can sit here all night and tell you what would be best but it won't matter because everyone has their own tastes.
