If I get to get a new car...I hope to get a hybrid. What do you think are the best hybrid cars to get? (Most eco friendly!) :-D So far, I like the TOYOTA PRIUS.

  1. prius

  2. My brother in law has had a Toyota Camry hybrid for about 6 months and he loves it. It doesn't get better gas mileage than the Prius, but it looked amazing after he changed his stock tires for nice new ones with chrome rims. It proves you can go green and still be 'cool'.

  3. Depends on what you need the car for and how many people you will be transporting on a regular basis. In some cases, a hybrid may not be the right vehicle for you. There are several smaller cars that get the same or better mileage as a hybrid, at a much lower cost. If you are going to be hauling stuff you may need a hybrid truck, or get a diesel truck and run it on bio-diesel. If you have alot of people to move a hybrid SUV may be for you.

If it's just you, and you live in a warm climate, you might consider a motor bike or a moped.

So you see, there is no "best hybrid" for everyone. You have to get the vehicle that is best for you, and for the environment.

  4. I just bought a Prius and am most happy with it. Be careful though. The screen that you view can be distracting and I suggest after a week or two to go into the climate control and switch the screen off. You won't miss it.

  5. My pick would be the Ford Escape Hybrid. You don't have to drive a rolling cockroach to get good mileage.

You can get the interior in "eco-friendly fabric." According to the web site: "The seats in Escape Hybrid's innovative earth-friendly seat fabric made from 100% post-industrial waste plastics and polyester fibers that would have ended up in landfills otherwise."

I'm not sure if the rest of the interior is completely 100% leather free, but it won't be hard to find out if you ask. I test drove one and I didn't see any obvious leather, such as a leather-wrapped steering wheel. It also has a good deal of power; I couldn't tell the difference in accleration between the hybrid and the regular version.

Oh, and it's also the third safest hybrid available, behind Camry and Civic. http://www.treehugger.com/files/2007/08/...

  6. A study by the Swiss determined the Prius to be the greenest car on the planet:

Second-best hybrid is the Honda Civic, and third is the Toyota Camry:

I don't think the Prius has any leather in it.

  7. Just checked consumers search report.  They have the Toyota Prius 2007 as the best compact hybrid car because it uses an electric motor assisted by a gasoline engine.  At city driving speeds, the electric motor operates alone and in highways the gas engine kicks in. The Prius is the most practical nowadays.   It's roomier than the Hybrid Honda Civic.

Check out the coming 2008 Honda FCX working with hydrogen power which promises to be the best.  Good luck!

  8. If you're looking for the best fuel economy...no doubt the Prius is best.  Also the most dependable...I do own one and for over a year, and love it!!!!
