  1. Wow, good question, Kmart. Personally, I've been so caught up in power hitter in the heavier division, heavyweight in particular, that I haven't ever given division below middleweight too much thought. Once again, good question.... tough one I may add.

The first name name that comes to mind for me is Jose Luis Ramirez.

  2. Brilliant question, because it is so hard.At lightweight the punchers are there but so are the good chins and sound defencive technique.Rosario had a really heavy hit,but had trouble landing it.as for the rest there have been many hard hitters but few chillers that come to mind

  3. Interesting questions, the lightweight division is full of boxing talents but not many hard punchers the first names that come to mind are

Joe Gans: He is probably the hardest puncher to have ever fought in the lightweight division, his record speaks for itself with 106 KO's out of 162 fights, this guy was pure power and it is rare to see such a powerful punch come from such a small frame, he fought in a time when boxing was still rudimentary and many of his opponents did not really know how to box properly (just watch how they pose for pictures lol) but i still gotta give it to him, it is not easy to amass such a huge record.

Roberto Duran - At lightweight his power was devastating he could hurt you with body shots...i haven't seen many guys that could hit as hard as manos di pietras.

Manny Pacquaio: he is yet to dominate completely at lightweight but so far his power does not seem to have diminished at all, he is still one of the hardest hitters in the game.

henry armstrong: this guy was not a natural light weight he went down in weight class to win more titles however his power at lightweight was very impressive, he was a skilled boxer but he often outpowered his opponents when fighting in this weight class.

julio cesar chavez:he did not spend too much time at lightweight however his power was undeniable, he did not have first round knock out power, he possessed something worse, he had the kind of power that hurts and damages opponents greatly over a period of time, he was a tough brawler and many people who were follish enough to trade punches with him ended up regretting it.

edwin Valero: he may not be the best boxer out there but his high KO ratio and quick ending fights show a high level of knock out power.

Jose Louis ramirez: he was a true puncher, he possessed a lot of ko power and strenght and he often KOed people early, he had trouble against good defensive opponents but he was always a force to be reckoned with at lightweight.

alexis arguello: I never felt he was a great puncher but when i look at his record and some of his fights i got to admit that the guy could hit pretty hard...he relied more on skills than power but he definitely had the ko power to finish fights early.

Oscar De la Hoya: At lightweiht he was a very hard hitter and he kept that power even after he moved up in weight class, not many people can do that and at lightweight he was particularly devastating to his opponents.

these are some of the guys off the top of my head that i remember at lightweight i am sure there's more, but i think these guys stood out when it came to punching power.

  4. roberto duran

    henry armstrong

    edwin rosario

    george chaney

    joe gans

  5. I think im going to have to say Oscar De La Hoya on this one. I know there are plenty of others that could top this list. But im just picturing all those fights where De La Hoya completely destroyed his opponents. It actually makes me hurt when i see some of those punches he landed. I remember one of  his opponents saying that it felt like they were being hit by a heavyweight, maybe exaggerated, but still, he had some serious power at that weight. Shane Mosley, Roberto Duran, Alexis Arguello were also pretty devastating and probably a couple mexicans i never seen fight.
