I've been planning to buy a notebook for a while and squared my range from INR 50,000 to INR 70,000 Including taxes etcetera.

The options which I have are :

1. Dell XPS 1530 (T8100,3GB) - But has bad sound, and is a bit outdated.

2. Dell Studio 15 - Quite okay but no option for higher resolution.

3. Dell Studio 17 - Not sure whether it would become bulky or not,but it has everything I want at a price similar to XPS 1530

4. Acer 6920 - This one has bass and great sound, looks great too.

5. Sony VAIO - I don't think this is as well priced as the others.

6. Toshiba Qu.. something - Not sure about the price.

7. HP Compaq - Some new model with P7350 processor.

So which one you guys think would be best in my range. I don't wanna spend money into something which won't last for at least 4yrs and should have great multimedia features. Moreover my use is to carry the notebook to work/university.

It comes with a choice of operating systems, either Linux or Windows XP.

There are earlier versions of the EEE with a smaller screen and cheaper pricetag that might be worth considering and they weigh in at less than 1Kg, maybe you could get a couple of them and have them for different subjects/uses.

    Good luck.
