  1. The best one I've found is the store brand at Wal-Mart.  It is very inexpensive and works well.

  2. 5-HTP (also known as L-5 - hydroxytryptophan) a food supplement.

It's fairly easily available from health food stores and online.  Not cheap but not unaffordable if you really want a good nights sleep.

It is a food supplement but taken at night (about 100mg) knocks me for six !  I was amazed how effectively it works.  Be wary until used to it, don't drive, or drink alcohol, don't overdo the dose.  The only side effects for me have been minor indigestion and extremely vivid dreams.  I have not slept propery for two weeks, took one tablet last night and slept like had had an anaesthetic !

  3. s*x

  4. by pass that and get some Essential oils - Clary Sage and Lavender.

  5. 1. Find the most boring member of your family and invite them over

    2. Booze, any description will do, preferably in HUGE quantities.

    3. s*x, s*x and more s*x, (will try this one day for myself !)

    4. Reading a religious pamphlet/the Financial Times/ a knitting pattern

    5. Watch any Cooking programs

    6. Listen to BBC Choir singing,on the radio

    7. Any political broadcasts debates

    8. Watch paint dry...literally

    9. Stare at your feet, and count toes

    10. Read all this cr*** that I'm sending you !!!!!

Sweet dreams, and I really mean that

    Caramac x

  6. I was prescribed Temazepam (sp?) though that never worked, other than that I only tried herbal pills and they done nothing, I know how you feel, your best bet would be going to the doctors..

  7. I went to a health food store and bought something with 5HTP.  It did knock me out all night.  I, too, had really vivid dreams when I took it.  Benadryl or the generic brand also works well.  If you don't have pain, don't take the Tylenol or Advil PM.  They have a pain med and Diphenhydromine (Benadryl).  Either of those two products will work.  Good luck.

  8. Melatonin is the best Non-Prescription tablet.

  9. How about a sleeping sandwich? Turkey Turkey Turkey! Anyone who says it doesn't help is lying to themselves. We all have heard of L-Trytophan in turkey, but most don't know why it works. Trytophan is in many foods and high in turkey This amino has the ability to cross the blood/brain barrier and stimulates the pituitary gland. I always get a real deep sleep from turkey and dream most of the time.

FYI many people that have problems sleeping are usually never completely awake and never completely asleep. This makes you always tired even though you lay down at night for hours. If you find exercise you can do during day{If medically you can do this} that really wears you out then it starts a better cycle. So when awake you are very active and when it's time to sleep you will be extra tired.

    Good  Luck!

  10. I am afraid there ain't such an animal as a good sleeping pill.

Overall they are basically a disaster, it takes only 3 consecutive nights taking sleeping pills to get withdrawal symptoms on the 4th night. Long term use on average results in the patient getting to sleep 20 minutes sooner and sleeping only 30 minutes longer than they did pre-medication. Also of course if they try to sleep without them, things are much worse than pre-medication. The mere act of taking an active sleeping pill is an unwise one as they are true drugs of addiction, fulfilling both the needed criteria for this, tolerance and withdrawal.

  11. Sleepinal.

My brother brought some home from the US three years ago; it is effective, keeps you asleep the whole night, and has no after-effects.You usually only need one, and what I like about it is -it seems to re-set your sleeping patterns after only one night.

You can buy it over the internet.

  12. Tylenol pm

  13. Try generic Benadryl, 25 - 50mg.

  14. I used to have problem sleeping. I didn't want to take prescription medication so I gave Valerian (which is a herb) a try. It seems to work for me.

  15. im not sure there are any just tranquilisers i have pretty bad sleeping troubles too i havent slept for 2 days and even tho i try to sleep i just cant seam to nod off :/

if you find something please let me know

  16. The only over the counter sleeping tablet you can get is going to contain diphenhydramine, whether you get Tylenol P.M, Excedrin P.M. or any other P.M. medicine.  Any 'sleeping pill' you get over the counter will just be a stronger dose of diphenhydramine.

  17. Tenants Super.

  18. Take benedryl or diphenhydramine 25-50 mg (1-2 caps/tabs). Tylenol PM and Advil PM all include 25 mg of benadryl/tab.  If you have pain, then take the tylenol/advilPM or else just take the benadryl.
