Question:

Best Park City Mountain Ski Spots?

I am heading off to Park City Mountain, UT late this January. What are some of the best spots to hit up? My ski abilities are as follows:

I can ski ANY blue or easier runs. I am good on powder, but my ski's aren't : ) . I live on the East Coast, and can ski just about anything down there. Back to the West, I can ski most blacks, but when I went to Vail last Spring, I had a tough time in the Bowls. I love terrain parks with a lot of BOXES!

Also, do you guys think that the bowls in Park City are too difficult for my level skier? I can take bumps, but not for long. I really want to try out Scott's Bowl, but there aren't any "escape routes" once you are at the top....

Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

  1. We have a very similar ski level. Let me just warn you about Scott's bowl/Jupiter Bowl.

I have been skiing Park City for years & love it. I was taken up to Scott's/Jupiter Bowl for my very first time, last ski season. It is super difficult. There are no escape routes.

If you do it, go with someone really experienced, it's very tough. Lot's of trees, very steep and narrow.

I don't think I'll ever go back up there. It was way above my level, and I like all blues, all double blues and some blacks.

I'd give you more advice, but I tend to let my Fiance be my tour guide. So, I just follow him all over the mountain, but I definitely won't follow him back to the bowls. I guess I'm glad I experienced it once. It's absolutely beautiful, remote and pristine, but scary.

Have fun! You should try both Park City mountain and Deer Valley. You can't go wrong with either one.

For a nice scenic tour, you should definitely ski down to the Jordanelle and take the Gondola back. (Deer Valley)

  2. I think you could do it by going there.Be brave and always practice before it,..

  3. It was a few years ago that I was there and I don't really remember the names of the runs or bowls, so I can't help you there.  I just remember that I actually liked The Canyons better than the Park City resort.  Park City was a lot more commercialized and crowded.  The Canyons seemed to have a lot more space to cruise around.  Lots of variety in runs  and a terrain park.  Now stuff could have changed in the last 5-6 years or so, but i would recommend checking out the Canyons for a day at least.
