  1. You can't go too wrong anywhere in brisbane.  Nearly all the inner city suburbs have gone from iffy to great over the last decade or so.  It really depends on whether you want to be close to transport, cafes, shops, etc, or whether you want a larger house with the backyard and a car.

    Southside has lots of good family suburbs like coorparoo, carindale, Mt gravatt.  It's fully a matter of how much you have to spend, where you'll be working, etc.  Maybe renting somewhere for a little while and having a look around will be the way to go.  www.domain.com.au has lots of property information including sales and rentals that should help give you an idea of what you want.

    good luck with the move - it's a great city to live in!

  2. if you want near the water, you could look around Cleveland area, plenty of nice places around there. Or a bit cheaper maybe out around Boronia Heights, or out to Forest Lake area, all within half hour from cbd. There are plenty of areas to go, depends on what you are looking for. Obviously there are bad sections of certain areas, but generally, most are good.       Hope you enjoy Brissy

  3. Well I used to live in Aspley/Chermside way.

    They have a Daycare, a school, parks just down the road. A massive shopping centre.

    It was a great place to live, I never had problems with it.

    And most people know the place.

    :)

  4. It really depends on how much you want to spend and where you are going to work. As for a pleasant and safe place to live, Brisbane is right. I live in a suburb in Brisbane which is considered amongst the worse. Compared to Sydney though, it's paradise. While the house prices are reasonable, they are rising very quickly. It's a good indication of how suburbs are rapidly changing. Get in while you can.

    If you want a cheap house but an investment;

    Eagleby

    Beenleigh

    Logan Village

    Safe and stable suburbs;

    Holland Park

    Camp Hill

    Morningside

    Money No object;

    Balmoral

    Cleveland

    New Farm

    These suburbs are all within 45 minutes from the city, during Peak Hour alot more. One very very bad thing about Brisbane is the d**n roads and conjested traffic and lack of public transport. I beg to differ with anyone who disagrees!!

    All in all, I love living in Bris Vegas. And parks, common as muck. And does Dream world take your fancy...good luck!

    Search www.realestate.com.au.

    PS. Plenty of Kiwi's here in Brisbane. It'll be like a home away from home.

  5. Well i live on the south side at Carindale and its pretty safe hardly any crime, good parks, shops and schools and the people are friendly as well. IMO Brisbane is probably the safest city in Australia because we dint have those surf type bogans hear like they do on the Gold Coast.

  6. all suburbs have facilities you need, you can check with our major insurance companies to see where the least crime exists in claims, i think the northside has less government housing, if you know what i mean, depending on your budget, there are many great northside burbs, good luck

  7. well it depends on you. whether you are on a budget or you want to be inner city or close to transport. nearly everywhere is good in brisbane. the south side is a really great family area. suburbs like mount gravatt, mount gravatt east, carindale, coorparoo, around there is great. there are lots of really good public and private schools and childcare centres around here to. it can be 10-15 mins from coorparoo and 15-20 mins from mount gravatt east. this is cause coorparoo is a bit closer. i used to live in coorparoo and then moved to Mount gravatt east. now i am moving to brussels for my husbands work. as you i am looking for i nice suburb to live in.
