Best Place to Donate?(moneywize)

(Sorry if I sound mean) I know Red Cross has kinda a bad rep. I'm clueless other than that. Were is the best place to donate? (do I sound mean?)

I've had the best luck giving directly to the poor.  I went to the poorest part of Phoenix and knocked on doors and asked what they needed.  One family had no heat in winter.  A space heater was only $45.  Another couple had no mattress. I got one for $65. /

you could donate to local homeless shelters. i know most are in need due to the fall of the economy. families are not being able to make ends meet and/or losing jobs. many people are having to turn to homeless shelters b/c there is nowhere else to go. there are lots of new faces appearing.
