Question:

Best Places In The UK To Live ?

I am a 21 year old college graduate and after living most of my life in Southern Ontario (Canada) I feel it is time to move on, and something inside me is constantly pestering me to move to the United Kingdom, my only question is, where ?

I was born outside of Glasgow but moved to Toronto when I was young with my mother and two siblings, so naturally my first instinct would be Glasgow, however many different members of my family have warned me that the city has a high crime rate, no jobs and extremely high cost of living (can anyone tell me if there is any truth to this ?)

So my question is ladies and gentlemen, if not Glasgow, WHERE DO I GO ? I am slowly become more and more frustrated the more time I spend in Canada, I just simply feel like I do not belong here anymore and need a change and I feel that change is back home in the UK

My top three cities right now are:

1. Glasgow

2. Newcastle

3. Edinburgh

does anyone else have any suggestions ? I'm a Sales and Marketing graduate and would prefer to avoid London

thanks !

  1. The UK is an amazing place, Cardiff is a beautiful place with wonderful people. Sheffield is also an amazing place. Edinburgh and Glasgow are such amazing places, the people are so friendly.

    Best of Luck to you.

The UK is a great country with great people.

  2. Do not go to Glasgow. You will hate it unless you are into knife & drug culture. Come to Edinburgh. You will love it.

  3. Glasgow - City of Culture -" Miles Better " . Host for the  Commonwealth Games . Sounds good to me . ( and I dont live there ! )

  4. I live in the city of Nottingham, not to sure if you've heard of it?

Anyway take a look into it..

I actually hate it now but after 15 years of living here i just think its because nothings new to me around here anymore.

The reason i give you this city is because of how the citys reputation has changed from 'Gun-Crime Capital' to 'The Multi-Cultral City'

Night life here is great, you have the corner house which is in the middle of the city & has 5/6 restaurants including pizza hut & TGI fridays, a hugeee cinema & a newly opened casino, these facitlites can also be used in the daytime aswell.

The city center is great for all kinds of shops, there is two huge shopping centers 'Victoria Center' & 'Broadmarsh Center' between the two is a strech of shops too so you don't have to walk miles to any shops.

We also have ice-skating,laser quest, bowling, paintballing & hooters just outside of the city center, 10/15 minutes walking.

The market square is the center of the city, all kind of events & markets are here. 1 week you might have carribean/african market & music the next could be asian & then german & then french.

We have the Nottingham Playhouse & The Thetre Royal were plays & concerts are seen.

Also visit the Nottingham Castle,The Caves,Tales Of Robin Hood & The Galleries Of Justice for the more historic side.

You now see how the 'Multi Cultral' side comes?

You will never ever be short of transport here we have buses, trams & trains to suit all your needs & you can even go to another city at low costs.

Housing here isn't that expensice but still not cheap like anywhere really.

I hope you consider this city as it may have a had a past reputation but it is a lot less hetic than london trust me :)

Take a look at the site below for more information on events coming up & any more info you need.

I hope this has helped (:

  5. You could try the South East which is easier to commute into London if that was where your job was.  You don't have to live in London.  Berkshire, Surrey, Hampshire and Sussex are all beautiful places and have all types of towns and villages to suit.  We don't talk with a dodgy accent either so you would understand us.
