Best Places to Teach Self Various Things Online?

Question

Alright. America sucks. And its education system sucks. I know my brain has a higher capacity than just learning where the same country is (ours) for the past five years, which is about the extent of my geography class.

Seeing as school is going to start in a few weeks, I'd like to ask; what are average tenth graders learning? In other countries, of course. And, following that, where would be the best place to obtain this information freely?

I am of course Googling all this, but I would also like to know what you guys recommend as the best from experience, and any input would be greatly appreciated.

Decide what you want to learn and learn it. You think geography spends too much time on the US? Go get some books on world geography! Find some outline maps online (National Geographic Xpeditions is a great site for that) to print off and start learning where the countries are and all that. Pick one that interests you and learn more about that. There's no one single book nor one single place online that is going to be the best--it depends on what you're looking for.

Btw, where I live, there are 3 different levels of courses for grade 10 students, so there's no such thing as "average" gr. 10 student--depends on which level you're taking (and you're allowed to take more than one level in a year, for example the hardest math but the middle social studies). Don't worry to much about comparing yourself to other people. YOU already feel you're not getting the challenge you need, so challenge yourself without feeling like you have to be equal to somebody else.

Good for you! Our public history programs are so shallow. I would get a catalog at http://www.Sonlight.com   and starting reading through their high school book list.
