  1. theres no such thing as a single "best" answer for you. what works for you whereever you are, may not be ideal as suggested by someone else somewhere else.

look at the fields you play. determine if you want to use soccer boots (hard ground) or rugby boots.

then try on the boots and see which ones fit best.

if you have abnormal feet which cause you to get blisters regardless of what boots you were, wrap athletic tape or scotch tape (sellotape) or duct tape around your socks before you put on your boots.

blisters are usually caused by your feet moving around in your shoes and the tape will take the brunt of the friction. a teamate of mine does it and swears by it.

  2. I play back row and I find that light weight rugby boots are the best. I don't like the ones that support your ankles because they slow you down. But if you lock or are in the front row I'd suggest football boots (the more support the better).

As for those blisters I always have that problem when I get new boots. My favorite is finding somebody who is getting rid of their old boots which are already broken in. Those are the best!

  3. Mizuno brand is good for playing flanker if you want something light on your feet and need something that fits your foot shape.

  4. you really have to find ones that will fit your style of play

forward i would suggest high tops since those seem to be easier to play in in terms of supporting the ankle with ruck and scrum play

(althought im a loose forward i play with low boots)

if blisters are giving you a problem use a cream or wrap your foot where you get the blisters and wear thicker socks with your cleats, i like wearing thicker socks to help with blisters and it makes the cleats fit tighter

also you should really have more than one pair for different conditions

metal cleated heavier boots are better for soft ground, and plastic molded type are good for hard ground i have adidas for molded and i cant remember the name of my metal boots

but also take this advice, just because the boots are more expensive DOES NOT mean they are better

ive learned this from experience, you really just have to trust your instinct on a pair and run around in them for a week to break them in

  5. ...

  6. i dont know- im having a hard time finding boots i like too, but i use body glide on my blisters... or where the blisters would form and it seems to help out with reducing the friction and therefore eliminating blisters.  it also helps if you get chaffing or if a seam on your shorts/ sports bra/ shirt rubs a weird way.  it comes in a deoderant stick shape- you can find it in the running aisle of the sporting goods store.
