Just opened a college football forum (http://www.thesackshack.com) and am wanting to do a side blog to gather attention and hits to link over to my site.

We use http://www.blogger.com and http://www.wordpress.com.  Blogger is owned by Google, but not much functionality.  Wordpress has got great PR and easy to use and set out.

Squidoo Lenses are kicking trash right now.

Blogger is ok, wordpress is better.

Hyper VRE is awesome, Blinkweb and Weebly complete a trio of free websites/blogs (kind of) designed by internet marketers for internet marketers.

Blogger.com definitely will get you a lot of hits from Google SE, if you have original content and a freaking lot of well searched keywords.
