Best Sandals resort for October, most activities!?

My husband and I are planning our first Sandals resort trip for our anniversary this year. We are still young, like to do the club thing, and I really want to horseback ride, do the canopy tour and spend time on the beach and at a bar. Maybe even have easy access to the community to sight see? We are not golfers. We are planning on visiting sometime in October of this year. Can anyone tell us which resort they liked the best that may fit us? We orginally thought Ocho Rios because of all the bars, but people told us not to go there- to go to Montego Bay-- Then we heard about the planes (which other people said is not a big deal). Any help and ideas would be greatly appreciated- we are open minded to all the resorts...

In Ochi you will have access to tours and montego bay

you can go to island village, check out white river  valley tours or chukka cove for ride and swim horse back riding  there is dunns river falls to climb and you can always do a day trip to montego bay which is about 1 1/2 hours away.  I think Sandal allows you to hop to any property and have dinner there.

Sandals Dunns River is a bit smaller but then its a bit more intimate.  October shouldnt be packed so it should be a good time.  Unless its near heroes day weekend in Jamaica October 20 which is a big party weekend and any resort is usually packed with locals.

Ochi vs Mobay

The thing with Ochi is that its so spread out that u either end up staying in the hotel or taking taxis.... Mobay has most things on the hip strip so Its more convenient.  If u want to encounter tourist jamaica... stick to mobay but if u dont mind getting around... seeing another side of the country then ochi is best because u can get to more things.

My hubby and I have been to Royal Carribean in Mo Bay and Halcyon on St. Lucia.  By far, St. Lucia was my favorite. It was beautiful, the locals were very friendly, and there seemed to be more to do on that resort as opposed to RC. We picked Halcyon because of the small size.  By our second day, the staff members knew our names and favorite drinks.  

When we arrived at RC, the staff was not as friendly as St. Lucia.  Also the resort was not as clean and they were doing construction - which they failed to mention when we booked.  The airport is near the resort, but the planes really didn't bother us.  

Since you are going to the carribean, the weather will be very nice no matter when you go.  We were in St. Lucia in September and it was 80s during the day and 70s at night.  We went to Jamacia in November and it was about the same.  However, October and November in Jamacia is their 'windy season'.  While sitting at the beach bar we were continously pelted with sand. - Hey! Free dermabrasion! :)
