One of the oldest teams in history, and great players to follow that up. Stan "The Man" Musial, Dizzy Dean, Rogers Hornsby, Lou Brock, Bruce Sutter, Bob Gibson, Ozzie Smith, Mark McGwire, or of course Albert Pujols????? Some great choices here, let me have it!

  1. Stan Musial for sure.

  2. Right now, anyone that says anything other than Stan Musial is crazy.....10 years from now it might be Pujols.

  3. Stan the Man, but Albert is giving him a run for the money.

  4. They don't call him "The Man" for nothing!!!  Stan Musial was the greatest Cardinal, an amazing hitter that many today just do not seem to appreciatte how good he was!

  5. Right now prolly Stan "the man"Musial, but once Albert Pujols is retired,i think he'll be the best Cardinal.

  6. Stan The Man was the best player in Cardinals history.

The man hit .331/.417/.559 for his career, had 3600 + hits, 3 MVP awards (finished 2nd another 4 times), 20 All-Star games in 22 seasons etc, etc, etc....

  7. In history it's Stan the Man Musial.  He was in 21 All Star Games, hit 3630 hits and had 475 HRs. With that strange looking batting stance he was one of the feared hitters of his era which included Aaron, Mays, Matthews, Banks, Mantle, Clemente and Killebrew.

Next to Musial I'm sure Albert Pujols if he stays with the team for a long time. But knowing how baseball business is, he might be playing for some other team pretty soon.

  8. Bob Gibson

  9. Ozzie Smith

  10. Pitcher -- Bob Gibson

    Position Player -- Rogers Hornsby

  11. its a tough question because the era's are so different. but in this era its tough to find a better hitter then pujols. I would take Rogers Hornsby at this point

  12. when your talking best of all time, you need to think bob gibson and stan musial for sure.  Can you imagine where Musial would be ranked all time if he didnt have to go into the war?  Pujols is in the top 10 for cardinals, but rest assured if he continues his dominating pace he will break numerous mlb records and be the best cardinal ever, if not best player in the majors ever.

  13. I am actually tempted to say Albert Pujols here... time will tell how the rest of his career unfolds.

  14. Stan Musial, no doubt.  He is among the top 7 or 8 players of all time.

    .331 career batting average

    475 Home runs

    3,630 hits

    1951 RBI

    21 All star games.

You can include Pujols when he is gets around 2500 hits and 1500 RBI.
